Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium is funding allocated by the government that the school receives, in addition to its delegated budget, for children from low income families eligible for free school meals; those who are looked after(LAC) or previously looked after (PLAC) or children from Forces families. The intention of this is to:

  • raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities to reach their potential
  • support children and young people with parents in the regular armed forces

The grant may be used to support children in the following ways:

  • For the purposes of educational benefit of pupils registered at that school
  • for the benefit of pupils registered at other maintained schools or academies
  • on community services whose provision furthers the benefit of pupils at the school

From 2021-22, schools must demonstrate and share their spending plan linked to research evidence. The elements that make up the plan include:

  • support for teaching (QFT, CPD, Recruitment, Retention)
  • targeted academic support (tutoring, 1-1, structured interventions)
  • wider strategies (attendance, behaviour, well-being)
